Overview

Learn how to produce music and DJ from the very best in the business this summer. This course is tailored for music lovers worldwide who want to learn the craft of a DJ/Producer by day and experience London's cutting-edge club scene by night. You’ll get the comprehensive practical hands-on training that Point Blank are renowned for, condensed into four weeks of power learning here in London. With four days of studio time each week and unlimited practice time throughout the course, every student gets their own fully-loaded workstation featuring the very latest equipment from Pioneer DJ, Ableton and Native Instruments. The course culminates with a performance at a top London bar/club venue and you'll get exclusive access to a range of clubs and parties over the time that you’re here.

Expert Lecturers

Darren Henry DJing

Darren Henry, a.k.a Quest, is a pioneer of the UK Dubstep sound since its inception back in the early 2000s, with releases on top tier labels including Deep Medi Music and Dub Police.

Nigel Hosten DJing

Aka Mr Dex. DJ'd with Ghostface & Raekwon (Wu-Tang), Omar, Estelle, Sway, Scratch Perverts and DJ Jazzy Jeff. Hosts The DeX Files weekly on itch.fm/live. Member of ‘A Bunch of Deckheads’ DJ agency.

DJ Shorty DJing

Shorty has a long history in radio, youth work and live events. Currently a resident DJ at the world famous cHip sHop in Brixton, and co-founder of More Than Music (MTM) who focus on youth work with at-risk and vulnerable young people.

Ben Bristow DJing

Played at Space (Ibiza), Ministry of Sound, Cargo & Scala. Featured on XFM & Kiss FM. Released on Breakbeat Paradise Recordings, Tru:Funk, Funk Blasters & Resense. Features regularly on BBC 6Music.

John Farley (J-Fresh) Radio

J-Fresh is a BBC Radio 1Xtra mix resident, Ministry of Sound music curator, DJ, broadcaster and producer with support from BBC Radio 1, Mixmag, GRM Daily & Spotify Editorials.

Michael Bailey Radio

Resident DJ for Goldie's Metalheadz label, presenter at 1Xtra, Radio 1 & Ministry of Sound. Recorded/remixed for Goldie, Roni Size, Guy Called Gerald, Trey Songz, Chipmunk, Nas & Damian Marley.

Claude VonStroke

Spoony

Spoony is a legend in UK dance music having brought garage to the masses in 2000 as part of the Dreem Team. He's since gone on to become a staple on Five Live but proved he's always learning by enrolling at PB!

FAQS

Do I need to buy software & equipment to take the course?

Depending on your programme, certain pieces of hardware and software will be essential throughout your studies at Point Blank. To help with your independent learning and assessment work, you will need to have access to this equipment outside of the campus. However, if you are able to attend classes on-campus, this equipment will be available to use either in-class or by booking practice time. Note that you have access to our facilities 7 days a week during term time for the length of your course (excluding scheduled breaks). Please visit this page which lists the hardware and software you are required to own for programmes taught by Point Blank. Where you may choose to study online (distance learning), this equipment will be essential to your studies and assignment work. If for any reason you cannot afford to purchase an essential item, you may be eligible for financial support via the hardship fund. More information about this can be found here. If you wish to buy equipment or software for your home studio, remember that Point Blank students qualify for discounts from Apple Education, Ableton, Native Instruments, Pioneer DJ and other leading industry partners.
